THE 3rd GLAM & ESSENCE STYLE AWARDS & RUNWAY SHOW

EJIRO AMOS TAFIRI ACCEPTING AWARD FROM ZEMAYELIGHTS, CAMERA, FASHION!!! The 3rd Glam & Essence Style Awards & Runway Show took center stage on the fashion and style scene on Sunday, the 23rd of November, 2014 as the crème de la crème of the society stepped out in exquisite outfits for the much anticipated event. With the theme of the event being glamorous, the A- list guests did not disappoint as they all stunned in their beautiful, glamorous and unique fashion statements by both local and foreign designers.

It was a star-studded event as celebrities such as Grace Egbagbe and daughter, Zemaye, Eunice Efoli, Data Okorodudu, and Alex Ekubo amongst several others made appearances to support the recognition of people who have stood out in the society for their positive impact in their different sectors. Special Recognition Awards and Honours for the Female Game Changers along with other categories of awards were given at the event.

There were also runway presentations by top designers such as Ade Bakare whose mix of the traditional Adire fabrics with foreign chiffons and heavy beading with local wooden beads brought a lot of colour and showed a lot deep connection to our traditional roots; a use of bold, vibrant colours for sleek long gowns and Victorian styled dresses made in local fabrics by Loisonell Couture; Trish O. Couture’s dreamy and elegant floor-length dresses were the embodiment of femininity, and Ella and Gabby showcased beautiful dresses and pieces in heavily beaded local fabrics in unique local prints. The outfits were all from the designers’ latest collections,

The award presentations were done by dignitaries to the awardees who were chosen based on a vote poll conducted among Style Editors Some of the award recipients include Mary Charles, CEO, Twinkul who won the award of Beautician of the Year; the Most Outstanding Jewelry Designer of the Year was Omotola Sokunbi, CEO, Tokalene; Most Outstanding Fashion Brand went to the LDA Lanre Da Silva Brand; and Ms Ono Bello was awarded Young Style Diva. With her speedy climb on the fashion ladder, Ejiro Amos Tafiri bagged the award for Fastest Growing Fashion Brand 2014; Vanguard Allure, with their consistent support got the award for Most Supportive Media for Fashion & Style 2014.

Shomya CEO, Elaine Shobanjo received the award of Make-Up Artist of the Year 2014; the ever dashing Alex Ekubo going home as the Most Stylish Male Entertainer 2014 and Rita Dominic receiving the same in the female category as Most Stylish Female Entertainer. Mrs. Buky Olatunji was the Most Stylish Personality in the Corporate Sector 2014; Most Stylish Media Presenter was conferred on Eku Edewor for her outstanding style on Television

In the Designer of the Year Category, Kola Kuddus received the award for Men’s Custom Designer of the Year 2014; Mrs. Tricia Onumonu of Trish O Couture was the recipient of the award of Most Outstanding High Fashion Designer 2014; Most Outstanding Couture Designer 2014 went to Mrs. Kehinde Ejiogu, CEO, Valerie Davies; and Most Outstanding Ready-To-Wear Designer 2014 was won by Mrs Modupe Uhuangho Egharenba, CEO, Odava Fashion House.

In the Special Recognition Category, Mrs. Quincy Ayodele of Quincy Herbal Beauty Clinic received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Beauty for her remarkable achievement in the beauty sector; Lifetime Achievement for Fashion went to Mrs. Violet Hecksher, CEO of Belle Fille; Mrs Martha Najomo was given the award of The Style Personality of the Year 2014 for her remarkable style statement; and Style Icon Of The Year was awarded to Senator Daisy Danjuma.

Honours were given to Female Game Changer in Fashion Designing in the person of Ms. Deola Ade-Ojo, CEO, Deola, as well as Mrs. Nike Ogunlesi, CEO, Ruff n Tumble who was awarded Female Game Changer in Children’s Fashion, Female Game Changer in Events and Interior Designing was given to Mrs. Uche Majekodunmi, CEO, Newton & David Company and Female Game Changer in the Movie Sector was gotten by Ms. Ibinabo Fiberisima, President, Actors Guild of Nigeria.

 The First Lady of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola was The Special Guest Of Honour and she presented the awards for the Female Game Changers at the event.
