MEET THE CELEBRITY OF THE WEEK: DJINEE

djNosa Osayamwen popularly known has “Djinee” started signing in his church choir at a young age. The singer who started his career in 1998, made it with hit with his first single, ‘Ego’ in 2004 . In a brief interview with Glamsquad magazine, Djinee talks about his career, motivation, challenges and personal life

Briefly introduce yourself?

I am christened Nosa Osayamwen. I come from Edo State. Born in Sagamu Ogun State into a family of 4. Primary School in Lagos. Secondary school in both Lagos and Benin and got my tertiary education in Oyo state.

How did it all start?

Listened to music blaring from my father’s turn table. I then horned my skill attending different school choirs and studying many musical greats. Decided to get professional when i got into the university.

What motivated you to go into music full time?

The passion and desire to share with the world my gift.

Did you face any opposition before starting this?

Naturally. My dad would not hear of it. Meant I had to leave home and suffer for a while.. lol.

What are you major challenges in the music industry?

To be on the safe side, I will just mention copyright infringement. There are deeper problems I wont mention here. At the proper forum and time when the situation can be remedied, it will be revealed.

How do you balance your musical career and personal life?

I keep my personal life personal. I keep a close circle of friends. People who aren’t ecstatic about the glitz and glamour of my line of work. And if/when I married it obviously would be to someone who isn’t interested in the red carpet theatrics! Even my parents, brothers and sister are not fussy about being known as Djinee’s family. That way at least some things, people and situations stay real.

Talking about your successful career, have you won any award?

Yes I have, The greatest of which is the individual validation of my core fans.

How would you describe your personal style?

Simple

Talking about your new album, have you released it?

No i haven’t. Still working on it. A new single and video coming soon. I’ll keep the title under wraps for now.

Your advice for young talented upcoming Artiste?

Pray, Read to stay knowledgeable about music, the business and the world around you. Persevere. Seek honest assessment of your work. Stay humble.
