Toke’s Sporty Chic Is Here To Stay

January saw Toke Makinwa spot a few sporty leaning looks, with adorable blouses and denim on sneakers and a few other interesting variation but I mean who doesn’t love sneakers every now and again right? so we chucked it down to a to-be short lived  phase. The international leg of the “On Becoming” Tour launched and we see way more sporty chic looks from Toke than we would have imagined possible. We always deemed her as more the ultra feminine, glamorous type girl and all of a sudden she’s going all sporty chic on us.

Then we thought about it some more and chucked it down to travel style. It was significantly colder in the parts of the world she was touring in and what’s tthe best way to blend; style, comfort and practicality? Sneakers and High Fashion inspired tracksuits and the works. It appeared to make perfect sense so we enjoyed the style ride a little more and let it go.  That was April through to May by the way.

June, July, August and a return back to this rather tropical continent later and Toke Makinwa appears to still be serving up some serious sporty chic looks and in more weather friendly and effortless way. So we do what we should have done a while ago and throw in the towel. Time to face the facts. Toke’s gone rogue. While our girl is still as much an ultra feminine glamour queen on the red carpet and at occassions as she always was, her off duty style has definitely jumped ship and taken on a more sporty vibe. To be quite honest with you, we can’t say we don’t love it and in retrospect, it was a bit silly of us to imagine that we could box the style persona of a woman on an international tour for a book title ‘On Becoming’ . So cheers to a little style inspired poetic justice from her to us.
