STAR RISING INTIATIVE : TO LAUNCH MAIDEN EDITION OF TALENT HUNT SHOW

Star Rising Initiative is set to launch the maiden edition of its talent-hunt show in Lagos. The audition and selection of qualified candidates is scheduled hold on Saturday, November 22, 2014.

Speaking at its press conference, Founder and Initiator of the foundation, Mrs. Ovia, gave a short presentation about the initiative. “Our mission is to establish Star Rising centres and support the youth of Nigeria as they walk the rough terrain of becoming responsible adults in an age where nothing seems stable and change is only constant. To nurture, discover God-given talents and providing counselling, well equipped modern library for the children to study.

“It is a passion dealing with children. I learnt all this from my husband, Mr. Ovia, to give back to the society with the little I can give. I decided to work with a team to build up this educational initiative. I have sponsored so many children in the past but decided to build a foundation by working with professionals in the industry.

“The selection process will done from 25 secondary schools and non- governmental organisations in Lagos State,” she said. She explained: “Mastermind is another part of the initiative to create academic and mental exercises for students in the senior secondary school bracket. Contestants will be take a quiz on subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, General Knowledge, Current Global Affairs and the sciences. Mastermind’s maiden edition will hold next year”.

In the same vein, a member of the Board of Trustees of Rising Star Initiative, Mrs. Ngozi Eze, added, “It’s a team and getting people together, we are going to different places to discover people who have not had the opportunity to develop their talents, dance and music, everything. (We shall) mentor them on what they want do. We are here to ensure it is a long term project and keep it as long as we can.”

Also speaking at during the press conference, television personality and media content executive, Bardia Oluwo, popularly known as “Illrymz” said: “As a producer and television personality, I want to use what I have learnt and achieved in career to encourage talented children to be the best in whatever choice of career they want follow. Children, especially in our society, need to be informed about self-confidence and believe that they can make it in life by working hard. It is not all about travelling abroad before they can make it in life.”

In an interview with Glamsquad magazine, Mrs. Ovia reveals her future plans for the initiative: “I have always loved working with children. There are so many talented young people in the country. This is the benchmark for Rising Star and Mastermind Initiative. It will be taken to other parts of the country.”

Celebrities in the entertainment industry to grace the event are: Kaffy, Ikon, Davido, Chidinma, Sasha, Blink, RunTown Omoakin, Yeevelle, Ozzy, Neduton, Boscouzi, Miss Jae, DJ Cuppy, Lynxx, Nneka and Egbuna.

The event is supported by Visafone, Zenith Bank, Wempco, Civic Centre, Uber, Jim Ovia Foundation, Vanguard Allure,  Radio Stations, newspapers,

magazines and other social media platforms.
