ITV boss Kevin Lygo has claimed that Clarkson’s controversial comments on Meghan Markle were “terrible”. He will, however, continue to present Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
The Top Gear presenter has been under fire since writing in a column in The Sun that he dreamed of the day when Meghan was “forced to parade nude through the streets of every town in Britain while the mob cry ‘Shame!’ and throw chunks of excrement at her”.
In response to the public uproar, ITV CEO Mr Lygo stated at a London event that he had “no influence” over what the TV star said in the newspaper.
“We hire him as a consummate broadcaster of television’s most famous game show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” On Tuesday, December 20, Lygo was quoted as stating at a Broadcasting Press Guild event in London.
“So it’s a little out of our wheelhouse, but I’m not sure what he was thinking when he wrote it.”
“It was terrible,” he added.
When asked if ITV will keep Jeremy on the game show, he responded yes.
