Baba Ijesha pleads for court to suspend his imprisonment

Actor, Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha has petitioned an Ikeja Domestic and Sexual Violence Court to give him post-conviction bail while the Lagos Division of the Court of Case considers his appeal.

Baba Ijesha was given a 16-year prison term for child molesting by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo in July.

The Lagos State Government filed six counts of accusations against Baba Ijesha, and he was found guilty on four of them.

The jailed actor was found guilty of sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, sexual assault, and defiling a child.

Baba Ijesha was sentenced to five years in prison, which he is currently serving concurrently.

Baba Ijesha makes an effort to escape from jail: On September 14, 2022, Baba Ijesha appeared in court and requested the suspension of the sentence awaiting an appeal once more.

Chukwudi Adiukwu informed the court that they had submitted an application for bail awaiting appeal in accordance with Section 6(6) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, during the proceedings.

Section 51 of the Lagos State 2015 Administration of Criminal Justice Law, according to Adiukwu, gives the court the authority to grant the applicant’s bail, either unconditionally or subject to reasonable restrictions.

He said that approving their application would advance justice.
