Engineer Kunle Cole, the father-in-law of Nigerian comedian and actress Wofai Fada has shed light on his disapproval of her marriage to his son, Taiwo.
Recall that Wofai announced her engagement to her heartthrob, Taiwo Cole. She revealed that they would tie the knot this year and shared their pre-wedding photos.
Following the announcement, Wofai Fada’s in-laws issued a disclaimer to reject her marriage to their son. The disclaimer stated that all acquaintances, family and friends are not aware of the marriage between their son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole and Wofai Fada, and neither was any permission granted in this regard.
They advised the public to disregard any publications and documents being circulated about the wedding.
It is worth noting that while the public statement made rounds on social media, the couple held their traditional marriage in Ugep, Cross River State.
Reacting, Netizens slammed the family for their tribalism, hatred and age shaming for the comedian.
In a conversation that got leaked between Taiwo’s father and his friend, the engineer talked about his son’s relationship with the actress and why he publicly disagreed with the wedding.
He noted that Wofai Fada, at 38 years old and way older than his 30-year-old son. He expressed concern that the marriage arrangement was brought to his attention briefly and without proper channels being followed.
He mentioned that his son had discussed his impending marriage to Wofai with him only 7 months ago, saying she was pregnant and urging them to marry swiftly. He had subsequently conversed with Wofai’s father, and they were still in discussions about the wedding when he was caught off guard by a wedding invitation. He expressed shock upon realizing his son had already printed wedding invitations.
