- The actress is optimistic about the prospects of the industry due to the worldwide distribution of movies.
Nigerian actor and filmmaker Ini Edo has hailed the progress made by the Nigerian film industry and expressed optimism that Nollywood will be unstoppable with the current rate of production and global distribution.
The thespian made her views known during an interview with Glitz Africa. She noted that the current tide, which has seen global streaming platforms such as Netflix, Showmax, and Prime Video stream Nigerian films to a global audience, has curbed the poor rate of worldwide delivery for Nigerian films.
Ini Edo said:
“All we have needed as an industry has been distributing outlets, without them, we drove our films as far as we could. I think with these global platforms, Nollywood’s evolution will be unstoppable.”
Since her role as lead actor in the Nollywood Netflix production “Shanty Town,’’ Ini has been in the headlines.
She co-produced the hit Nollywood film, which features top Nigerian actors such as Chidi Mokeme, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Nse Ikpe-Etim, Uche Jombo, and more.
In an interview with Premium Times, the actress described co-producing “Shanty Town’’ as a “dream come true.
“Shanty Town is like a dream, and it’s a dream to be a part of something like this that gets the whole world’s attention, so I would pick ‘Shanty town’ as long as Filmmaking is concerned.”
