Before you can get HBO Max and view every episode of the criminally overlooked series, you must first download it.

Let’s say you want the full HBO Max experience, but you’ll have to pay either $ 9.99 or $ 14.99 every month.
The cheaper tier includes advertisements, whereas the more expensive tier does not.
Otherwise, both service levels have the same content selection.
If that doesn’t work, you may always look for a buddy who has a working login.
One last bit of advice: write down your login information.
It’s required for the HBO Max app to function when it’s been installed on your device.
How to get HBO Max on Roku
Now that we’ve got the most annoying part out of the way, we can get down to brass nails. First up is Roku, the most popular streaming device maker in the United States. Adding HBO Max to your Roku device’s channel list is as easy as adding Netflix or Hulu. Roku’s website has a page explaining this, but if you don’t feel like clicking on it, let me summarize:
- Press the Home button on your Roku remote and navigate to the Streaming Channels menu.
- Click the “Find Channels” button and type in “HBO Max”, or at least enough of them to automatically fill in the search to bring you the app
- Scroll to HBO Max, select it, then press the “Add Channel” button.
There! All done. It should now be on your Roku home page. If you have a Roku voice remote, you can skip the hassle of typing the app’s name and just say “HBO Max” into the microphone for a faster resolution.
How to Get HBO Max on Fire Stick
Let’s take a look at how to stream HBO Max on an Amazon Fire Stick.
It’s as simple as using your Fire Stick or other Fire TV device to access any other streaming service, just as with Roku.
Here’s how it works in a nutshell:
1. Locate the search tool on your Fire Stick’s home page, which should resemble a magnifying glass.
2. Enter “HBO-Max” in the search box.
3. Select the HBO Max app and then click the download option once you’ve found it.
HBO Max should now appear in the app selection on your Fire Stick.
Also, if you have a Fire Stick with a voice remote, you can simply ask Alexa for HBO Max and she will direct you there.
It’s as simple as that.
How to Get HBO Max on Apple TV
I’ll sound like a broken record, but the truth is the truth. HBO Max is also available on Apple TV streaming devices, and just like the Roku and Fire Stick, downloading the app couldn’t be easier:
- Find the App Store on your Apple TV
- Search for “HBO-Max”
- Once you see it, select it and hit the download button
Once that’s done, it should be accessible from the list of apps on the Apple TV. Again, Apple TV has Siri support, and Siri can help you find HBO Max or any other app if you just ask.
How to Get HBO Max on Samsung, Vizio, and LG Smart TVs
Samsung, Vizio, and LG Smart TVs also allow you to install streaming apps directly on the TV instead of relying on an external streaming device. You can watch HBO Max with all three of these brands, but the methods differ slightly from brand to brand.
Any recent Samsung TV should be able to get HBO Max, but you can double-check hardware compatibility on the Samsung website just in case.
It’s simple to add HBO Max to your app rotation if your TV is on the list.
Navigate to the Apps area on the home screen, then to the magnifying glass search button in the top right corner.
Enter “HBO Max,” locate the app, and click “Install.”

The latest LG smart TVs are much the same.
From the main menu, press the Home button and select LG Content Store.
It’s the same procedure you’ve probably used to set up other streaming apps.
When you’re inside, go to the search bar and type in “HBO Max.”
Once inside, navigate to the search button and search for “HBO Max”. Once you find it you should be able to hit an install button. That should take care of it.Vizio SmartCast TVs are a little different, but believe it or not, watching HBO Max on one of these devices is actually easier than watching it on any of the other options.
SmartCast doesn’t ask consumers to add or uninstall apps; instead, it pre-installs any apps with which Vizio has an agreement.
One of them happens to be HBO Max.
You should be able to find it in the app selection on your SmartCast TV.
