The installation of an artificial lake at the estate generated alarm, which has now resulted in punishment.

The initial accusation of an environmental infraction was filed with Mangaratiba City Hall in response to a video Neymar shared on Instagram, which was assumed to depict the artificial lake the former Barcelona player is constructing on his property.

According to a statement issued by Mangaratiba’s environmental department on Monday, environmental violations occurred “during the construction of an artificial lake at the mansion.”

Footballer Neymar has been fined 2.6 million dollars for prohibited construction work at his Rio residence.

The local attorney general’s office, the state civil police, and the environmental protection office, among other environmental control organizations, will investigate Neymar’s case.

In a dispute over the prohibited building work, Neymar’s father was reported to have ‘insulted environmental inspectors and was threatened with arrest’ last month.

According to the Brazilian news outlet UOL Sport, Neymar Snr was warned that people in charge of carrying out the work needed “more education.”

Neymar Snr was fined close to £822,000 (five million Brazilian reals) for the damage caused by the work to the house on Brazil’s southern coast of Rio de Janeiro state.
