Having worked on Seasons 1 and 2, Glaser and hair and makeup artist Erika Okvist are familiar with the tenacity of the fandom, and their skill is evident in Season 3.

Nicola Coughlan’s character Penelope takes matters into her own hands after years of being on the marriage market. “She was determined to get herself a husband, so she needed a glow-up,” explains Okvist, a Downton Abbey veteran to Bustle. “So what do you do after that? “I must make myself appealing.” Like all great makeovers in pop culture, her new appearance was unveiled in a dramatic fashion.

When the initial design process for Bridgerton season 1 began for Glaser, who had worked with Rhimes before, he knew that there would be an emphasis on a wide range of color and fabric. “All we knew was that it was 1813 and that there would be no women’s bonnets,” he told Instyle. “That kind of gave us a clear vision as to where we were going. And I always say that our initial inspiration boards were very clear where it shows a fashion reference, it shows an historical reference, and hopefully a painting in there too, which sums up exactly where we went.”

In the third season, as the characters change, so does the attire, especially for Colin Bridgerton played by Luke Newton and Penelope Featherington played by Nicola Coughlan, who both have completely redesigned roles.
