Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year 2021 on Monday, December 13.
Elon Musk, 50, made history a few months ago when his SpaceX company completed the first all-civilian crew space flight.
He also surpassed Jeff Bezos as the richest person on the planet.
‘The richest man in the world does not own a house and has recently been selling off his fortune. He tosses satellites into orbit and harnesses the sun; he drives a car he created that uses no gas and barely needs a driver,’ Time wrote.
‘With a flick of his finger, the stock market soars or swoons. An army of devotees hangs on his every utterance. He dreams of Mars as he bestrides Earth, square-jawed and indomitable. Lately, Elon Musk also likes to live-tweet his poops.’
As of Monday, Musk’s net worth was $265.4 billion. He beat out fellow Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose Blue Origin aerospace company lost a lawsuit against Nasa over a $2.9 billion lunar lander contract awarded to SpaceX.
