Cubana Chief Priest pleads not guilty to Naira abuse, granted ₦10m bail

Nigeria businessman and socialite, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu better known as Cubana Chief Priest has been granted ₦10 million bail.

Glamsquad reported that the EFCC has filed a three-count charge against the businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, for allegedly spraying and tampering with the naira at a social event contrary to the Central Bank Act of 2007 provisions.

On Wednesday morning, April 17th, 2024 Cubana Chief Priest appeared before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court and had pleaded not guilty to the charges of naira abuse.

Meanwhile, his counsel, Chukwusolo Onukwi opposed the charges filed against him by the EFCC. He had also filed a bail application which has been granted by the judge.

The judge granted him ₦10 million bail.

This is not the first time Cubana Chief Priest will be picked up by the EFCC.

In 2022, the EFCC arrested Cubana Chief Priest on charges related to money laundering and tax fraud. He was held in custody for several days, even spending his birthday there.

However, he was released on Monday, April 4th, 2022. The news of his release was made known by his colleague, Soso Soberekon who shared a photo of himself and Okechukwu on his verified Instagram page, hailing him for being trusted and tested.
