Bobrisky will be held, protected in male cell ward —NCOSBobrisky

The Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS)  has disclosed that controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, will be kept in the male section of the prison facility throughout his six-month sentence.

Glamsquad reported that Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in jail without bail for Naira abused by  Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court. The crossdresser was charged before Justice Awogboro by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).

Before the sentence was pronounced, the judge asked Bobrisky about his sex. He replied, “I am a man”.

He was then remanded to serve his jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, with the judge ruling that the sentence would commence on March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest.

Justice Awogboro stated that it was necessary to deter others from similar acts of abuse and mutilation of the naira.

Recall that Bobrisky was arrested at Pinnock Estate, in Lagos State on 3rd April 2024 around 3 pm by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for abuse of Naira and money laundering.

Following this, Bobrisky had been in EFCC detention since Wednesday night. He was granted an administrative bail on Thursday but was unable to meet the conditions attached to it.

On Friday, EFCC presented Bobrisky at the Federal High Court in Lagos on a six-count charge bordering on alleged Abuse of Naira and alleged Money laundering.

He pleaded guilty to the first four counts bordering on Naira abuse. Before the charge was read, the EFCC’s counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, however, asked the court to strike out counts five and six bothering on Money laundering allegations. Justice Abimbola Awogboro subsequently struck out counts five and six.
