Kanayo O. Kanayo, a veteran Nollywood actor, has urged Nigerians to give their first salary to their parents as “blessings” rather than to clergy.

The thespian further claimed that the tradition of giving a pastor the first salary of the year among Nigerian Christians is unbiblical. He asked Christians to wake up and quit slipping into bad financial habits in the name of faith.
On his Instagram account, Kanayo wrote: “Take your first salary to your father for his blessings not your pastor.
“And to that Pastor who said it belongs to him in a video in January, did you ever consider, the feeding/ transportation to and fro the office for that month? Where is this in the Bible?
“Christians wake up. This is not Christianity.”
