Mohbad: Naira Marley and Sam Larry granted bail after weeks in detention

Embattled singer, Abdulazeez Fashola better known as Naira Marley, and his aide, Samson Elutu also known as Sam Larry have been granted bail after weeks in detention.

According to reports, Naira Marley and Sam Larry have not been allowed bail, but have been required to present three sureties along with a significant amount of N20 million.

Furthermore, the embattled duo have been instructed to hand over their passports and appear weekly at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The Magistrate firmly cautioned them against direct contact, stating that any attempts to reach her would be documented and possibly revealed during public court proceedings.

Glamsquad recalls that following the demise of late singer, Mohbad on 12th September 2023, Naira Marley and Sam Larry were accused of physically assaulting the singer and had been remanded by the police.

A week ago, Naira Marley and Sam Larry filed a lawsuit against the Magistrate and Police over their continuous detention.

In the lawsuit filed before the Federal High Court in Lagos by their lawyer, Naira Marley and Sam Larry are each demanding N20m damages from the police and the Lagos magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, over what they termed as their “continued detention” in police custody. They joined the police and the Lagos magistrate as defendants in the suit.

The duo in the lawsuit argued that the magistrate ordered their remand for only 21 days and the period had elapsed. They are seeking “an order of the court releasing the applicants forthwith.” Read here

This came after a Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos State, on October 4, 2023, remanded Naira Marley and Sam Larry for 21-days over allegations of bullying the late former Marlian Music signee Mohbad.
