INTERVIEW WITH AFRO POP SINGER: BCODE

Having started his musical career at a young age, Nigerian born artiste Chinedu  Godwin Nzekwe  popularly known as B.CODE,  graduate of engineering in Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). In an interview with Glamsquad Magazine, Afro pop singer speaks on his musical career, motivation, challenges and new music video.

CAN YOU BRIEFLY INTRODUCE YOURSELF?

My names are Nzekwe Godwin Chinedu  popularly called B.CODE by my fans, Am from Ehime Mbano, Imo State. A graduate of engineering from Federal University of Technology (FUTO). I grew up in Coker Aguda, Surulere Lagos, am from a family of nine and the last child. Am a song writer, artist, performer.

HOW DID YOU START YOUR MUSICAL CAREER?

I started my career while in secondary school my friends and I formed a group called the “Team”, We sing dance .This group parted ways when they left secondary school, but  my love for music did not end with the group.

In 2006, while waiting for my WAEC result, I started writing music and performing often at friends party, trying to get a record deal.

I  started music professionally in 2008 Around the same time, I was signed to Paparazzi records. There was a break in between so that I can focus on my academics , I came back actively in 2013 with my first single titled Rollercoaster with a music video which was directed by Patrick Elis. Presently Managed by Zabriels, who have taken the helm of  my career since 2014.

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO START PROFESSIONALLY?

Music is something I love to do naturally, My mum was a music coach and takes me for rehearsals in church and my elder brother beats the drum in church. It motivated me as person growing up  to write songs, perform for friends and family.

WHAT IS YOUR BRAND OF MUSIC?

Afro pop is a kind of music I love to do, its a song that keeps you happy, just want to have a good time. Am a happy person generally pop music makes you feel that African touch.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR  SONGS, AWARDS AND TOURS?

The inspiration behind the song is life Itself,  I write based on real life experiences of friends,  family put in a way and compose good music. I want people to see life from the good to the bad side as well. One of my songs “Lemme know” We love to party in Africa, The song  “lemme know”  is my second single, directed by the sensational music director Toyin Lawani  CEO of Tianah”s Empire, Its a dance hall song and want people to watch  the video.

I have performed at some many events such as  Royhill Fashion shoes(2013),Performed at the Broadcasters merit award night in Ibadan(2014) and also Performed at the Vela Alora wine launch (2014). I have won any musical award yet.

DO YOU HAVE MENTORS IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?

I respect 2 face Idibia so much, listening to his music every time makes me work harder and keep to my own standard of music.

ASIDE MUSIC, HOW DO YOU RELAX?

I love to play games like play station, Singing, Dancing, Football and Swimming thats all .

ARE YOU IN A RELATIONSHIP?

Am single, not searching, its distracting to have a woman in my life right now.

DESCRIBE YOUR FASHION STYLE?

I love to feel comfortable in what I wear, I can wear jeans and shirt anytime anywhere.

WHERE DO YOU SEE B.CODE IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS FROM NOW?

I see myself taking my music to the international level, My fans should expect good music, my next song will be R&B.
