Davido to pay Amaju Pinnick N30m over breach of contract

Music Sensation, Davido is set to pay former President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick N30m.

A Delta State High Court in Effurun recently rejected the singer’s request for a stay of proceedings in the N2 billion lawsuit brought against him by Amaju.

During the court session, Davido’s legal representative informed the court about a pending appeal and the filing of a motion for a stay of proceedings by the defendants, Davido and his record label. However, the representative applied to withdraw the motion, stating that the Court of Appeal now had jurisdiction over the ongoing proceedings in the lower court.

Amaju’s counsel did not contest the application to withdraw the motion, and the court approved the withdrawal. However, in a bench ruling, the court sided with the claimant’s argument, stating that proceedings in the case would continue in the High Court until an order for further proceedings is obtained from the Court of Appeal.

In a new development provided by Daily Post, the singer has reportedly agreed to settle the breach of contract suit filed against him by Amaju at the High Court of Delta State, Effurun.

Davido is set to resolve the dispute out of court and has agreed to pay N30 million to Amaju. This payment will serve as a partial contribution to the claimant’s outstanding legal fees in the suit. The agreement stipulates that Davido will fulfill this payment within seven days of executing the terms of settlement.

Glamsquad recalls that the former NFF president publicly called out Davido for not fulfilling his contract obligations. He expressed dissatisfaction with Davido’s failure to attend his event, despite reportedly paying him a significant amount and arranging for a private jet for his crew.

After comparing Davido unfavorably to his rival Burna Boy, the former NFF president received a sharp response from Davido, who warned against casting stones in glass houses. Davido boasted about his successful headlining performances without interference.

In a retaliatory move, Davido hinted at donating money to the NFF, implying their need for financial support. His logistics manager, Isreal DMW, defended Davido and challenged Amaju Pinnick to reveal the truth.

However, Davido later succumbed to pressure and issued an apology to his fans in Warri, explaining the reasons for his absence.

Subsequently, Amaju Pinnick filed a lawsuit against Davido, seeking N2.3 billion in damages. He also sought an injunction to bar Davido from performing at any event in Nigeria until he refunded the payment received.
