Afrobeats singer, Davido has shared his views on the impactful contributions Africans, especially Nigerians, are making across various sectors, including healthcare and entertainment.
During an appearance on Afric TV, Davido emphasized the significance of African talent and creativity. He pointed out that many of the leading doctors in the United States are Nigerians, underscoring the community’s impressive achievements in the medical field.
He also highlighted how Africans are making a significant impact in the global music industry, bringing fresh ideas and new perspectives to the forefront.
Davido also noted that Western filmmakers are now turning to Africa for inspiration, with platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime sourcing movie ideas from the continent. He expressed pride in the growing African representation in global media, pointing to the rise of Nigerian films on Netflix’s top 10 list.
“The best doctors in America are Nigerians. You can search it. Even in my record label [Sony Music], Africans bring the best ideas. That shows that our imagination is off the grid.
“Netflix and Amazon Prime come to Africa to get movie ideas. Now, when you come on Netflix, you will see about two Nigerian movies in the top 10. Africa is next, trust me. I feel like we have everything but just missing a couple of things.”
In other news, Davido have been under intense scrutiny after he issued a strong warning to Black Americans contemplating a move to Africa, urging them to reconsider due to the continent’s economic challenges in a recent interview on the Big Homies House podcast.
Davido however clarified that his comments were not intended to disparage Africa but to focus on its brighter sides while steering attention away from its less glamorous realities.
The likes of Reno Omokri, Patrick Doyle, Akashat Nymat, and others slammed him as they disapprove of his statement.
Taking to the micro-blogging platform, X, the 2025 Grammy nominee asserted that the backlash stems from envy, claiming he is the true ambassador. He further praised his own performance, highlighting the sophistication and refinement of his accent during the interview.
