Afeez Owo is an actor and producer of Nollywood movies. He is from Iseyin, Oyo State. He received his K-12 education at St Paul’s Anglican School, Idiroko, and Faramora High School, Oyo State, respectively, before moving to Lagos in search of greener pastures.
Owo is married to Mide Martins, another popular Nollywood actress, and the daughter of the late actress Funmi Martins, who died on April 6, 2002 of a brief illness. The two met when Mide returned from London while filming a movie. Owo was Funmi Martins’ Film Coordinator at the time. Being a shy person, she was alone, but she always wanted Owo to be by her side. As at then, they were just friends, but they took their friendship a step further after they were both abandoned in their different relationships. His marriage was blessed with two daughters.
CAREER
Since the elementary school days, he has always had a passion for acting. As a high school student, he envisioned a theater script called “Kokoro Aiye”, which was widely applauded by his peers and teachers. When he moved to Lagos in the mid-1990s, he met another Yoruba actor, Rasaq Olayiwola (Ojopagogo).

It was through Ojopagogo that he gained fame in Yoruba cinema. Owo started film production in 2000 with the film ‘Maje Sinwon Waye’. He has several popular films to his credit, including Adurotoluwa, Abusi Eledumare, Yonu Simi, Agbalam, Eje Tutu, Gbere Meje, Oba bi Olorun, Ife Owo, Eekan Soso, etc. In addition to film production, he has acted in minor film roles including Egan, Ishipaya, Iwa Ose Meji, Omoge Lekki, Oloto ati Bada and Kostrobu.
