APT keen on 5G startup incubation

Startup incubators are becoming increasingly important in encouraging the commercialization of novel 5G applications, forcing Asia-Pacific Telecom (APT) to increase its efforts to incubate 5G tech businesses.

Since 2018, APT has completed three phases of its 5G startup incubation program, and according to APT, more over half of first-phase firms are now profitable, and many additional latecomers are promoting their unique 5G solutions online for a variety of industrial applications.

APT said it is collaborating with Globe Telecom of the Philippines and AIS telecom of Thailand to launch the first 5G Challenge event, and that it will gather startups it has incubated at the 2021 Meet Taipei, an annual startup event set for November 18-20, to demonstrate their latest 5G tech innovations and help them build connections with international players.

APT stated that in order to best employ associated resources and maximum synergy benefits, both startups and telecom carriers must learn how to cut into the primary industrial application outlets for 5G wireless communication technologies, services, and solutions.

According to the company, so-called killer 5G applications will finally rely on bespoke XR (extended reality) solutions that will be used in a variety of industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, retail, security, and surveillance.
