Actress Rita Edochie has issued a warning to a man posing as Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, also known as Odumeje.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a man who resembles the preacher is seen arguing with two men who are allegedly engaging in traditional worship on Douglas Road in Owerri, Imo State.
The impersonator could be seen in the video destroying a clay pot that had been placed on his car by the alleged traditionalists while reciting Bible verses and making declarations.
In response to the video, Rita wrote on Instagram on Wednesday that the man in the video was not Odumeje but rather a lookalike who had been defrauding people by using the cleric’s name. She also issued warnings to the imposter’s supporters.
The actress also brought up the case of comedian Ada Jesus, who passed away in 2021 from kidney disease in an Abuja hospital, saying, “IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THIS GOAT TOMORROW, THEN EVERYONE WILL COME OUT AND REMEMBER UNFORGIVING SPIRIT.”
She wrote: “EVERYONE WILL NOT BOTHER TO COME OUT NOW TO WARN AND CONDEMN THIS ACT BY THIS APE.THIS ONE HAS STARTED HIS OWN AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT ITS NOT ODUMEJEJE BUT JUST HIS LOOK ALIKE.IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THIS GOAT TOMORROW, THEN EVERYONE WILL COME OUT AND REMEMBER UNFORGIVING SPIRIT, 70 X 7.
“PLEASE THIS APE IS NOT ODUMEJEJE. THERE ARE KNOWN WITCH DOCTORS IN THE LAND BUT NO ONE BOTHERS TO MAKE JEST OR CARICATURE OF THEM ON SOCIAL MEDIA BUT YOU SEE MISGUIDED INDIVIDUALS, UNDER THE FALSE GUISE OF COMEDY, RIDICULING MINISTERS OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD.”
In Onitsha, Anambra State, Odumeje founded the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry.
Reports about Rita Edochie and Odumeje casting a curse on Ada Jesus dominated the days leading up to her passing.
Ada Jesus had earlier claimed that Rita had conspired with Odumeje to stage false miracles.
Ada Jesus was identified as having a kidney condition that caused certain areas of her body to swell months after making the serious accusations.
The comedian’s family brought the paralysed comedian to Odumeje for healing, but the cleric turned them away.
Instead, he and Rita cursed her and accused her of lying and blackmail.
Both of them declared that the sick young woman would pass away from her condition as a warning to others.
The self-styled Indabosky and the seasoned actress were forced to retract their statements in response to the backlash and state that they had absolved the comedian.
Many Nigerians criticised Odumeje and Rita for their use of strong language after Ada Jesus passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, with many suggesting that the deceased suffered a spiritual attack as a result of their curses.
