Following on from our recent kick flare edit we want to remind you that essentially no trend, colour or print is technically out of bounds, for any of us – it’s just about finding the right fit for YOU. This week we’re looking at the print that will never die – stripes. Studies claim vertical stripes make you look taller and horizontal stripes make you look wider and to some extent this is true BUT and it’s a big but, the cut and fit of the clothing item is what you need to focus on first of all – then you can start to look at the prints… Check out our tips on how to rock stripes for your body type.
BODY TYPE – Straight
Your bust and hips will be more or less the same measurement and your waist will be only slightly smaller.
Celebrity Straights: Victoria Beckham, Toke Makinwa, Mo Cheddah and Cameron Diaz
Opt for wider stripes with varying widths to give the illusion of curves

BODY TYPE – Pear
Your hips are wider than your bust and your defined waist gradually slopes out to your hips.
Celebrity Pears: Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Joseline Dumas, Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian
As we mentioned horizontal stripes make you appear wider so go for horizontal stripes on your top half to make your torso appear broader.

Avoid horizontal stripes. Vertical and horizontal stripes will be more flattering for your shape.

Vertical and diagonal stripes work best for you as they’ll elongate your torso.
