  • Ayra Starr has dismissed media rumours linking her to Rema.

Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has debunked rumours of an intimate relationship with fellow singer Divine Ikubor, aka Rema.

The Celestial Being said she wasn’t aware of the rumours attaching her to the fellow Mavins Record star during an interview with Kenya’s Kiss FM on Thursday, March 2, 2023.

Reacting to the rumours of a romance with the ‘Calm Down’ crooner, Starr said, “I haven’t heard that before.’’

She would go on to liken Rema to a brother, saying, “No, that’s my brother in Christ.”

It will be recalled that in December 2023, Rema said in an interview that he had a special bond with Starr. He disclosed that it got to the point where he could not go on outings without her.

Rema said:

“Ayra is a vibe. There are a lot of times… It got to a point where I just could not go out to parties without Ayra. She is a vibe and she has ginger.’’

The singer’s decision to liken Rema to “a brother in Christ” is likely a move to totally cancel rumours attaching her to him. Rema was equally particular about him not having any intimate attachment to her when he was asked in an interview in December.

Ayra Starr and Rema are both signed to Donjazzy’s Mavins Record label.

Both artists had an impressive 2022 with some hit songs to their credit. Rema’s “Calm Down” became a global hit in 2022, with millions of streams across platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, BoomPlay, and a few others. For Ayra Starr, her biggest song in 2022 was “Rush.” So far, the song has over 100 million streams on YouTube.
