Nollywood actor Ime Bishop, popularly known as Okon Lagos, has opined that fellow Nollywood star Banky W lost the 2023 Federal House of Representatives election due to his association with the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

Results from Lagos State showed that the PDP failed woefully at the presidential, senatorial, and House of Representatives elections. Banky W contested for the seat of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency under the platform of the PDP but lost to the Labour Party’s candidate, Thaddeus Attah.

Okon believes that Banky W deserved to win the position, but he lost because the citizens of the area opted for the Labour Party. The comedian said it felt a bit funny when he saw campaign posters of the musician, actor, and entrepreneur posing side-by-side with Atiku as if he were the former vice president’s running mate in the election.

The comedian, who made his opinion public through an Instagram post, advised fans to pray against failure due to association.

Okon said:

“In this ehn, pray to GOD that you don’t get to be disqualified by association, especially for a position you very much merit. BANKY and ATIKU is a perfect illustration! The moment I saw posters of him posing side by side with Atiku as if he were Atiku’s running mate, I had a funny, funny feeling.”

Both Banky and Atiku lost their bids for a position in the Nigerian political space. Atiku finished second in the presidential election to the ruling All Progressive Congress candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
