Tom Cruise, a 60-year-old Hollywood star, is set to become the first actor to shoot a film in space, glamsquad reports.
The veteran has reportedly collaborated with The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman on a film pitch that involves filming in space, which was originally planned for 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic halted plans.
It was also revealed that they had approached Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) about an idea in which the actor would take a rocket up to the International Space Station.
Donna Langley, Chairman of the UFEG, stated:
“I believe Tom Cruise is taking us to space, if not the entire world.”
“That’s the strategy. We’re working on a fantastic project with Tom… Taking a rocket up to the International Space Station and shooting.”
Langley revealed that the majority of the film would be shot on Earth, with the character “going up to space to save the day,” and that she hopes Cruise will become “the first civilian to do a space walk outside of the space station.”
If the project is successful, Cruise will be the first movie star to film on the International Space Station.

While the move is certainly unprecedented, it’s not surprising that Cruise is aiming for space, given the Jerry Maguire actor’s penchant for daring stunts.
