American professional rally driver and YouTube personality, Kenneth Paul Block has died in a snowmobile accident at the age of 55.

The action sports star and founder of skateboard brand DC Shoes and Hoonigan Industries passed away near his Park City, Utah home on Monday, 2nd January 2023, according to a confirmation from his company on Instagram.

The statement read:

“It’s with deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today. Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed.

The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post said:

“Block was riding a snowmobile on a “steep slope” at around 2:00 p.m. when the vehicle upended and landed on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

“We are saddened to hear of the loss of Kenneth and our hearts are with his family and friends so deeply affected”.

Ken initially gained prominence as a marketing executive after founding DC Shoes in 1984. He later sold the company in 2004 and moved on to a successful career as a rally car driver.

Ken was a five-time X Games medalist in RallyCross and gained a following on YouTube for his stunt driving videos on his Hoonigan channel, accumulating over 1 billion views for his Gymkhana videos.

Ken is survived by his wife, Lucy, and their three children.
