For Pre-fall 2023, creative director, Lorenzo Serafini gave a unique touch to Philosophy.
Serafini used elongated and sleek lines to create a full wardrobe that included everything from laced dresses that stretched over the body to see-through gowns with cutouts.
She also created more demure, second-skin midi dresses in black tulle or velvet with contrasting Peter Pan collars.
According to the designer, the textiles allow women to “enjoy both their own body and garment” by “exalting body contours without limiting them.”
A baby-doll dress made of tulle and lace and placed over flared slacks, as well as a print of the strong text “I love you” that was splashed over shirtdresses and miniskirts, are examples of punkish elements that lent a humorous touch to the lineup.
Serafini acknowledged the influence of the “Pistol” miniseries without specifically mentioning it as a source for these striking additions.
To enhance the collection’s tactile quality, Serafini experimented with textures to flank these graphic effects. Bring on the crystal-studded fuzzy lilac cardigans and bralettes, the eco-fur with Lurex threads, the cascade of sequins covering the pants, the statement draped gown, the vinyl flowers, and the accessories.
