Pharma Millionaire, Gigi Jordan’s cause of death revealed

The cause of death for millionaire mother Gigi Jordan, who was found guilty in 2010 of killing her autistic son, has been made public.

According to the New York Post, Jordan, who was discovered dead last week in her Brooklyn home, committed suicide.

The Chief Medical Examiner in NYC said the cause of death was “Asphyxia by covering of head with plastic bag and displacement of oxygen by nitrogen gas,” according to the publication.

Jordan’s bail was revoked by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor the day before she passed away as a result of a legal dispute over whether she could remain free while pursuing a new trial, according to NBC New York.

Jordan, a multimillionaire in the pharmaceutical industry, previously admitted to giving her 8-year-old son Jude Mirra a fatal combination of drugs and alcohol in a Manhattan hotel room more than 12 years prior.

The mother is alleged to have then taken a dose of several medications herself. After receiving an email from Jordan, a relative ultimately informed the authorities.

Jordan’s defense claimed during her trial that she killed the boy because she was afraid of her ex-husbands and had also made an attempt on her own life. However, according to Fox News, the prosecution claimed that she electronically withdrew $125,000 from her son’s trust fund as he was dying.

In late 2014, she was found guilty of manslaughter and given an 18-year prison term. However, a procedural error led a federal judge to overturn her conviction in 2020.

Later that year, after the next stage of the legal process had concluded, she was freed and put under house arrest with a $250,000 bond.

Jordan was sent back to jail the day before she committed suicide while she awaited a new trial.
