Nigerian rapper, Olamide Adedeji, mononymously known as Olamide, has achieved a major milestone, surpassing 1 billion career streams on Spotify.
He stands as the first African rapper to reach this milestone, a feat fueled by his seamless blend of Afrobeats into his music and strategic collaborations.
Last year, Olamide further cemented his legacy, making history as the first African rapper to receive a Grammy nomination.
His collaborative hit with Asake, Amapiano, earned a nomination in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys but ultimately lost to Tyla’s Water.
In other news, singer, Portables is reeling in joy after he received from British-Nigerian rapper, British-Nigerian rapper Skepta for their chart-topping 2022 collaboration, Tony Montana.
The controversial artist took to Instagram to share his excitement and gratitude after receiving payment from Skepta, celebrating the global success of their hit track.
Released in December 2022, Tony Montana swiftly rose to prominence, dominating music charts and becoming a fan-favourite anthem across platforms worldwide.
Portable’s posts overflowed with praise for Skepta, along with heartfelt gratitude for his team and devoted fans. In one of his posts, he wrote;
