Nigerian celebrity actress, Sadiya Haruna convicted for committing a sin

Sadiya Haruna, a Kannywood actress and social media blogger, has been fined by the Kano State Hisbah Board for “uploading s*xual contents on her social media handles.”

Haruna, a resident of Kabuga Quarters, was first apprehended on Friday by Malam Aliyu Usman, the Head of Kano State Hisbah Board’s Surveillance Department.

She was subsequently jailed by Islamic police until early Monday, August 23, when she was taken before a Sharia court in the Sharada district of the state.

She was accused of frequently posting indecent films on her social media handles and YouTube channel in which she was dancing s*ductively and making s*xual comments, according to the First Information Report (FIR) filed against her.

The defendant pleaded guilty to a single offense of obscenity and indecent act, which is in violation of Penal Code Law 2000 section 355.

Justice Ali Jibril Danzaki, the sitting judge, found her guilty and sentenced her to attend a Darul Hadith Islamiyya session at Tudun Yola Quarters for six months as punishment for her crime.
