Several Nigerian celebrities have been in conflict with one another due to past issues. Some of these celebrities have even used their social media pages to insult each other publicly. In some cases, the conflicts have escalated to physical altercations.
Glamsquad takes a look at celebrity misunderstandings that rocked the entertainment industry in 2022.
1. Bobrisky and Papaya Ex
Controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye better known as Bobrisky and social media influencer, Abike Halima Raheem better known as Papaya Ex fought on social media and almost got physical at an event.
The drama between the two began when Papaya Ex imitated Bobrisky with her housewarming party. She used a similar invite pattern as Bobrisky did in 2021.
In 2021, Bobrisky gave out an invitation package containing a bottle of champagne, perfume and more for his housewarming.
In 2022, the invitation card from Papaya Ex was accompanied by a bottle of champagne, a glass cup and more gifts.
Before this, Bobrisky who now calls himself the ‘Munmy of Lagos’ had promised to deal with Papaya Ex for imitating his style, stealing his brands, and patronising the same vendors as him.
Fast forward to the housewarming invite, took to his social media page to criticise the Papaya Ex and pointee out how she copied his method and mocked her dress, which he compared to a Lagos waste collector’s outfit (LAWMA).
In subsequent postw, he disproved that they are friends. He said:
“We are not friends, and we can never be friends, we are not the same age mate, when it comes to the money she doesn’t even half of my money, she is trash, she looks dirty, razz, ” h
He challenged Papaya Ex and threatened to beat up the influencer while encouraging her to maintain the same energy when they met in person.
The Meet
Bobrisky and Papaya Ex eventually met at a party where they almost went physical.
Videos which made rounds on social media showed that Bobrisky kept to his word as he promised earlier to deal with Papaya Ex whenever they meet.
In the videos, Bob was seen seated at one side of the event while Papaya Ex backed him.
The brand influencer and her gang were seen stylishly throwing shades at Bobrisky, who was calm from the dance floor.
However, the crossdresser, didn’t welcome it for long and threw his table water at her.
Although the bottle did not meet its target, Papaya Ex did not restrain from continuing her jabs at Bobrisky with her gang.
In another clip, Papaya could be seen giving a mocking dance step to Bobrisky, who was trying to maintain class at the event.
The crossdresser was so furious that he warned people to stop recording him. Bobrisky even ignored fellow crossdresser James Brown who knelt to greet him at the event.
Bobrisky resumed online beef with Papaya Ex
Bobrisky who stepped out for a recent event, looking all bloated resumed his online beef with Pappaya Ex. In a recent video, he said:
Papaya Ex housewarming party was nothing to write home about because nobody wore Aso Ebi at the party.
He further alleged that the controversial influencer teamed up with skit makers to attend the housewarming party in order to spray her two hundred naira notes, something that can never happen at his on party.
Bobrisky also boasted that, unlike Papaya Ex’s party, he gathers dignitaries at his own party.
2. BBNaija’s Praise and Beatrice
Big Brother Naija former housemates, Beatrice and Praise took to social media to disagree over the topic; “S*x on first date.”
Praise took to his Instagram story to encourage ladies into having sex on their first date. According to the father of one who got intimate with Ka3na another housemate during their stay in the house, sex on the first date might spur a guy who actually on likes a girl into loving her.
He wrote;
“Ladies, have you eve thought that a guy might like you, but the sex might make him love you even more? So what’s with the It’s not right to have sex on the first date?? Not every guy is about the smash and go life.”
Disagreeing with her colleague whom she had earlier had confrontation with, Beatrice in her opinion said it’s a way of girls making sure that they don’t sleep with the wrong guy who kisses and tells.
She said:
“Praise, it’s not about him falling in love. We ae worried about sleeping with a coconut head. A kiss and tell that will announce you to the world with a microphone. It’s okay for a lady to take her time and know who she is dealing with, and if he can’t wait for her to decide on what to do with him, he should take several seats back.”
He confrontation on social media further deepened the fued between them.
3. Halima Abubakar and Apostle Johnson Suleman
The long fued between Nollywood actress and Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministeries have continued to linger on.
Apostle Suleiman was allegedly involved in s33xual scandals with numerous Nollywood stars, which led to brouhaha on social media.
The drama between Apostle Suleman and Halima Abubakar started in June when a controversial blogger, GistLover, disclosed that the actress was in a relationship with the man of God, who is allegedly fetish.
Hours after the news emerged, Halima Abubakar, through her Instagram story, confirmed the story. She claimed there would be a disaster if she decided to speak regarding the issue.
Halima threatened to disclose more secrets on social media if anyone tried to bully her with unnecessary messages.
The actress’s social media post led to another drama between the Nollywood celebrities whose names made it to the alleged list of celebrities who had relationships with Apostle Suleiman. Many took to their respective social media pages to debunk the reports with different claims and some with curses.
Apostle Suleman however responded to the drama by filing a lawsuit against Halima Abubakar for defamation of his character.
The suit titled “DEFAMATORY STATEMENTS CONCERNING APOSTLE JOHNSON SULEMAN: NOTICE TO CEASE AND DESIST” was specifically addressed to Halima Abubakar over her recent outburst on social media regarding her past affairs with the man of God.
The suit accused Halima of publishing damaging, malicious and defamatory statements about Apostle Suleman against his conduct. The ailing actress was also asked to make a retracting statement in some selected National Newspapers.
