The arrest of crossdresser, Idris Okuneye better known as Bobrisky by the Economic Crimes Financial Commission (EFCC) has continued to generate mixed reactions from Nigerians.
Recall that Bobrisky was arrested on Wednesday in his residence for abuse of Nair and money laundering. However, the news of his arrest broke out on Thursday morning with the EFCC spokesperson confirming his arrest.
While netizens took to the comment sections blogs who had spread the news of Bobrisky’s arrest, EFCC dropped his mugshot which diverted attention from his arrest. In the Mogshot, the crossdress who looked less attractive than the usual image he portrays on social media wore a black dress known as Jabiya and used a black scarf on his head. Well… it is worth noting that the artificial nails he fixed were perfectly intact while he held onto the board used in the mugshot. His appearance was confusing as many asked if he was booked as a male or female.
Bobrisky’s arrest comes days after he attended the premiere of Ajakaju: Beast of Two Words, a movie produced by Nollywood actress, Enioal Ajao. At the premiere, he was named the best-dressed female and awarded a sum of one million naira. Afterwards, Bobrisky sprayed the Naira notes lavishly during the party.
Subsequently, after weeks of commotion on social media about his supposed award for blessed dressed female at the event, he was arrested for abuse of Naira, something he is known for at parties.
Netiznes have tagged Bobrisky’s arrest as a witch hunt as they noted that almost everyone is guilty of Naira abuse. Some celebrities who have shown support for Bobrisky following his arrest and court appearance include
Eniola Ajao
Considering the fact that Bobrisky’s waterloo started after her movie premiere, Eniola took to her Instagram page to show support for the crossdresser. She wrote,
“Woke up very sad & My thoughts and prayers are with Bobrisky this morning. He has been very supportive. He should not be going through any issue as a result of the movie. Maybe I should not title the sequel of @ajakajumovie Ajakaju.
“The gbas-gbos since the premiere and the cinema runs started are on another level; it is another Nollywood story on its own. I pray Bobrisky (Mummy of Lagos) gets home safely. Please EFCC, help us.
We have learned our lessons; we will do better and stop spraying money. We will only do transfers A Please show me love by going to cinemas across Nigeria; #ajakajuthemovie (Beast of two worlds) is still showing.”
Simi Gold
Nollywood actress and skincare specialist, Simi Gold also sent out words of encouragement to Bobrisky.
Recall that in 2023 during the Naira scarcity, the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) arrested Simi Gold. She was grilled about the cash she flashed at her birthday party. The EFCC later took over the case from the ICPC and charged the actress to court.
Simi Gold was sentenced to six months imprisonment. Her sentence was later reduced to three hundred thousand naira before she was released.
As a friend who has been in Bobrisky’s shoes, she wrote, “nothing do you my friend you’re coming out of this stronger with your head up. sending you loads of love my sweetheart”
James Brown
Crossdresser, James Chukwueze Obialor better known as James Brown or Princess of Africow took to his Instagram page to console his senior colleague, Bobrisky.
It is no longer news that James Brown and Bobrisky fell out years back due to constant comparison and who is the supposed leader of crossdressers.
Despite this, James Brown shared a video of concern with his fans and followers. He noted that his phone had not stopped ringing and that he had not been able to rest or sleep well since the news of Bob’s arrest broke. He encouraged him to be strong.

Ali Baba
The king of comedy, Atunyota Alleluia Akpobome better known as Ali Baba did not exactly show support for Bobrisky, he questioned why the EFCC arrested only the crossdresser when other rich folks are guilty of the same crime.
Luminee
Celebrity stylist, Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo better known as Anjy Luminee took to her Instagram page to share a picture of Bobrisky with a heartfelt wish and assured him that his crown is intact.
“My heart goes out to you in this difficult time of yours BOB. THE CROWN IS PERMANENT”
Yomi Fabiyi
Controversial Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi surprisingly also showed love to Bobrisky.
He took to his Instagram page to share a picture of Bob and assured him that he is in his thoughts and prayers. He also assured him that his predicament would pass.
“You are in my thoughts and prayers, Bob @bobrisky222.
This too shall pass. Stay strong”.
Paul O
Nigerian show promoter and talent manager, Paul Okoye better known as Paul O on his path made a passionate appeal to EFCC over Bobrisky.
Paul O who is the lover of actress and entrepreneur, Iyabo Ojo noted that if Bobrisky is guilty of Naira abuse, then over two million Nigerians are guilty and would need to report themselves at the police station.
He asked the EFCC to pardon Nigerians and noted that Naira abuse won’t occur again.
“If Bobrisky is guilty of Naira abuse you know say over 2M Nigerians will just go to Police Station and report yourselves including me. Pls EFCC forgive us. Is not going to happen again”.
