Howard University withdraws Diddy’s honorary degree in light of s*xual assault charges

Embattled American music mogul, Sean Love Combs, better known as Diddy has been striped off the honorary degree conferred on him by Howard University.

Howard University’s Board of Trustees unanimously decided to take action in response to the multiple allegations of sexual assault against Diddy and a video that emerged showing him attacking his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, in a hotel.

The University believes that these actions are not in line with their values.

A university spokesperson told Fox on Friday that

“The Howard University Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to accept the return by Mr. Sean Combs of the honorary degree conferred upon him in 2014.”

“This acceptance revokes all honors and privileges associated with the degree. Accordingly, the Board has directed that his name be removed from all documents listing honorary degree recipients of Howard University.”

Diddy is a former student at Howard University who dropped out in 1990 after two years. He was later awarded an honorary doctorate and served as the commencement speaker in 2014.

Diddy has since apologized for his actions following the release of the viral video.

The singer made an apology video, stating that he was at the lowest point of his life, but it wasn’t an excuse to assault Cassie.

Diddly also apologized to his fans and noted that he is taking the blame for his actions. Consequently, he is working on a path to become a better man.

Reacting after the footage of the assault and Diddy’s apology made rounds, Cassie thanked fans for the support and spoke of her “healing journey”, which is ongoing after the ordeal.

She said,

“Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now. but this is only the beginning. Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but will always be recovering from my past, Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously. My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time. It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in.

I offer my hand to those that are still livina in fear. Reach out to your people, don’t cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone. This healing journey is never ending but this support means everything to me. Thank you, Love Always. Cassie”
