Nollywood veteran actor and film executive, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, known professionally as Olu Jacobs is currently trending across social media after false reports that he has passed away.
The false news originated from music producer, Obaksolo who took to Instagram to mourn the legendary actor. Consequently, Netiznes took to various blog posts to mourn Olu Jacobs.
Reacting to the false rumour, Olu Jacobs’s family released a video to show his ‘proof of life’. In the video, the actor suffering from dementia could be seen getting a haircut from someone while his son informed him via a phone call what is being said about him on social media.
In response, Olu Jacobs could be seen and heard disagreeing with the false news.
Meanwhile, Nigerian writer and philanthropist, Betty Irabopr and veteran actress, Kate Henshaw also discarded the false news.

Glamsquad notes that it has now become a regular thing for Olu Jacobs family to debunk false news of his passing.
In 2022, his wife, veteran actress, Joke Silver threatened to take legal action against those spreading the fake news about her husband’s death.
Also in October 2021, Joke shut down rumours of her husband’s death after the fake news circulated on the internet.
