The use of high quality leather was widely noticed at the Givenchy FW 2023 RTW Collection from the oversized jacket to the pointed mouth shoes. The fashion brand which was stuck between creating designs for the 80s and being trend setter gave a light combination of both.
Other archival nods included the Hubert-drawn fish print, which was later used in a diagonally running wrap dress inspired by Williams’ consideration of a McQueen-designed couture dress in snake print.

Look 48’s all-black floral embroidery in technical fabric was inspired by a multi-colored piece by Hubert in more traditional fabrics. In contrast to the voluminous box pleats of Act One, the dresses were frequently cut open at the back. Williams admitted that a printed, fabric-overlaid metal mesh dress with a gathered neckline was possibly an unintentional echo of Gianni Versace’s design language.
Carine Roitfeld, who has been consulting with Williams and Givenchy on womenswear, sat front row alongside Jared Leto, who is now several stops into his post-Gucci tour. “We have a conversation about making desirable clothes,” Williams said of their interaction. The women around me inspire me so much. And she knows the house so well because she spends so much time with Carine. We literally only discuss clothes.” With Roitfeld, Williams is forging a Givenchy womenswear identity that spans generations and continents.
