Nigerian stand-up comedian, master of ceremonies and actor, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, better known as Ali Baba has advised women not to be full-time housewives.
Ali Baba’s advice came when he replied to a tweet on microblogging platform, X. According to the X user who made the tweet, he stated that he placed his wife on a salary and her job description is to enjoy her life and time with their children.
“I put my wife on a salary. Her job description is “enjoy your life and time with the kids”.
Replying to the tweet, Ali Baba who has been married for seventeen years with three kids kicked against the idea of a full-time housewife.
According to me, the idea of a full-time housewife was a fraudulent practice common between 1987 and 1997. He noted that fraudsters who had made money didn’t let their wives work. however, when tragedy struck in the homes of such men, the full-time housewife bears the burnt.
Ali Baba also reminisced about women who were pulled away from their careers, experienced stunted growth in their professions and couldn’t fit into their career structure anymore.
Drawing the lesson from his reply, he advised women not to allow any man to make the full housewives. He added that if any woman tried such in the present economy, the will feel they heat.
He wrote:
“In the 419 days, between 1987 and 1997, this used to be the practice of fradsters who had “hit it” big time.
They didn’t let their wives work. They made them full-time housewives.
Some even stopped their wives who were career minded people to quit their dreams.
When life happened to the family of these kinds of men, the full-time housewives got the wrong end of the stick.
I know a few who, after their husbands, pulled them away from their careers, thereby truncating their professional growth and things went south, the wives, couldn’t pick up from where they left.
You left banking as an SM, (Senior Manager), 6 years later, I bet if you can fit into that banking structure again. Unless as a GM… even at that… e go hard
Lesson: Don’t let any man make you full-time housewife in these times. If you do, #YouGoFeelit”
