This comes after Joshua faced Usyk in a heavyweight rematch after losing his WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO belts in a unanimous points decision last September at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Shelly Finkel, Wilder’s manager, watched the fight and praised the British heavyweight afterward, saying he was “gutsy” to return to the ring.

‘He [Joshua] was gutsy to go right back into the fight after he clearly lost the first one [against Usyk in September last year],’ Finkel reveals

The American’s manager also stated that Wilder is ‘open’ to a future fight with Joshua, but it is entirely up to Joshua.

‘It really depends mentally what Joshua feels he needs,’ Finkel said. We’re willing to give him a break and a fight as a comeback fight if he feels the real redemption is with Deontay.’

After two brutal defeats to WBC champion Tyson Fury, the Bronze Bomber has yet to return to the ring. Wilder, on the other hand, is scheduled to return to the ring on October 15 in New York against Robert Helenius.

After losing to Usyk for the second time, AJ is expected to take a break from the ring, but Eddie Hearn has confirmed the 32-year-old will return to action in December.

‘We’re all hoping to be back in December,’ Hearn told Sportsmail. ‘It hasn’t been confirmed, but that’s where everyone’s thoughts are.

‘We’re not booking a venue, but the conversations – as recently as yesterday – were about his return in December.’ I don’t want to name names, but this is a top-15 fight.’
