Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has announced plans to donate the sum of three hundred million Naira (N300, 000,000) to orphanages across Nigeria.
Davido took to his page on microblogging platform, X to make the announcement. He disclosed that he would donate through his foundation, ‘The David Adeleke Foundation’, as his yearly contribution to the nation.
The Grammy-nominated singer also disclosed that details of the disbursements would be disclosed on Wednesday, 21st February 2024.
He tweeted;
“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria… as my yearly contribution to the Nation.. details of disbursement tomorrow.”
Davido’s generous donation to orphanages comes at a time when the country is facing serious economic hardship. Following this, Some Nigerians across the country have been staging protests to express their displeasure.
Glamsqaud recalls that in 2022, Davido donated two hundred and fifty million Naira (N250,000,000) to two hundred and ninety-two orphanage homes in Nigeria, the donations he received from his fans, friends and colleagues on his 29th birthday in 2021.
