Pascal Okechukwu, a popular Nigerian socialite and nightlife business entrepreneur known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reportedly been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on money laundering and tax evasion accusations.

According to Peoples Gazette, Cubana Chief Priest was detained at the Lagos airport on Thursday, but anti-graft officials kept the news quiet due to pressure from his allies and family, who claimed the case would complicate matters for others potentially involved in the suspected scam.

According to the story, Cubana Chief Priest is currently detained by police, and his wife is the only person permitted to see him.

The article, however, did not say where the celebrity bartender would be allowed bail or how much information officials had gotten from him as of Saturday night.

“The incident is still being investigated,” an unidentified source added. The arrest of Cubana Chief Priest happened just weeks after the arrest of his senior colleague and friend, Obi Cubana, by the anti-narcotics agency NDLEA.
