Burna Boy’s mother speaks out: My son is Innocent

It is no longer news that a young lady has taken to social media to accuse Nigerian Don Gordon, Burna Boy of impregnating and dumping her. She has continued to tweet and post pictures, calling Burna all sorts of names and raining insults on him for abandoning her and his supposedly unborn child. The news picked slowly and you can be forgiven if you didn’t hear anything of it until now, this is largely because Burna Boy had kept relatively silent until a few weeks when he replied the allegations with a video of himself singing the lines ‘fu**ked that girl once and now she’s claiming that she’s pregnant.’

The reggae dancehall artist Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy received harsh reception from a large section of the fans who believed he should have at least contacted the girl to know if she was telling the truth; others however blasted the girl for using social media to drive her claims especially since she seemed to have engaged the singer on a one night stand. The battle had been between the fans themselves as Burna has surprisingly kept calm about the whole issue.

A few days back though, Burna’s mother in an interview with a popular Nigerian Daily claimed that the girl was a gold digger and that cases of propaganda against entertainers and artists in the industry was not new. She claimed her son’s innocence and that the girl should not be taken seriously.

She said in the interview, “It is not new; these girls come up from time to time with different claims. My position on this is no comment. Anybody can claim anything that they want to claim. We have absolutely nothing to say, Burna Boy is a musician and we want to focus on his music. Nobody has time for her.

“We saw all the reports online but we just chose to look the other way. In this industry, girls are always coming up with pregnancy claims, we see it every day. We are not bothered and we have no comment. We are focusing on the music and nothing else,” she noted.
