Dino Melaye’s Childhood

Dino Melaye was born in Kano State, Nigeria, on January 1, 1974. Though he is originally from Nigeria’s Middle Belt, namely Kogi State, he spent his early years growing up in Kano State.

After graduating from high school, he entered politics full-time and was nominated to chair the Presidential Advisory Council on Youths by former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (OBJ).

Dino Melaye served in the House of Representatives, representing the Kabba/Ijumu federal constituency in Kogi State, until being elected to the Senate in 2015 to represent the Kogi West Senatorial District.

In 2019, he ran for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Kogi West senatorial election, defeating APC candidate Sen. Smart Adeyemi. However, his victory was later annulled, and a new election was held, with Sen. Smart Adeyemi declared the winner.

Dino Melaye is the author of “Antidotes for Corruption,” one of Nigeria’s most costly books, which was launched in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital territory, in 2017.

Many luminaries attended the book launch, particularly those in politics, including Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Dame Patience Jonathan (ex-first lady), Yakubu Dogara, James Rawlings, Senator Bukola Saraki, and others.

The book “Antidotes for Corruption: The Nigerian Story,” which he just knew about, sold for $50,000 and is still selling today.

During the book’s launch, he faced a lot of backlash since the book was accused of having poor grammar because ‘antidotes’ was supposed to take the preposition ‘to’ instead of the ‘for’ in the title. Also present at the book presentation were those he mentioned in the corruption cases.
