He claims that most Nigerian musicians check the status of their songs on the charts before praying in the morning.

This was said by the Zanku crooner while appearing as a guest on the current episode of the Afrobeats Podcast hosted by Adesope.

“People [artists] who didn’t take their online presence seriously before started looking into it,” he remarked. People who don’t care about their royalty and are only interested in show money…You obviously make more money from shows; you simply leave the royalties till you are ready. People began asking their DSPs, “How much Apple Music do I have?” How much does Spotify cost? ‘How much does it cost on Audiomack?’

“That’s when people started paying attention to the whole chart thing.” Everyone wishes to be on the list. That is what the diaspora listens to… Obviously, everyone wants to be a part of it. The chart [Apple Music] now functions as a report card. When every musician wakes up in the morning, most of us go to Apple Music [to see what’s going on] before we pray. We even go to the chart before the next day to see where it [a song] would chart the next day.”
