Adunni Ade was born in Queens, New York, to an Irish-German mother and a Yoruba Nigerian father.

She’s a model and actress in Nigerian cinema. When she was two years old, she and her parents flew to Nigeria to attend her grandfather’s funeral. Until the age of about 18, she lived in Lagos State, Nigeria, where her family is from. She then moved to the United States to attend college.

In Opebi, Lagos State, she attended Chrisland Primary School and graduated with a certificate in basic school. She graduated from Bells Comprehensive Secondary School in Ota, Ogun State, with excellent grades in the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Her well-to-do Lagosian father, an entrepreneur, encouraged her to pursue a career in accountancy. In 2008, Adunni Ade graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in accounting. Adunni Ade previously worked for the Kentucky Housing Department, where she provided housing assistance, as well as the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where she provided medical insurance (Medicare and Medicaid) to individuals in need.

Career


Adunni Ade began her career in the United States in the housing and insurance industries before making the jump to show business. For her first modeling job, Adunni signed with America’s Next Top Model, which aired in 2011. The actress scored her first Nollywood job after returning to Nigeria and appearing in the 2013 film “You or I” in Yoruba.

Her YouTube comedy sketch “Date Gone Bad,” which was posted in 2014, received so much attention that it racked up over 170,000 views.

Her other Nollywood credits include roles in English and Yoruba language films as well as music videos for artists like Sound Sultan and Ice Prince. The Nigerian Institute of Journalism honored her with the Stella Award for her work promoting Nigerian culture.

Emi Mi – My Soul, directed by Saheed Balogun, was her debut Yoruba film, which she wrote and produced. Ibrahim Chatta, D’Marion Young, Sunkanmi Omobolanle, and Shola Kosoko appeared in the film.

In the following year, she produced another Yoruba drama movie, “Ewa – Beauty,” directed by Saheed Balogun, with Ibrahim Chatta, Yinka Quadri, Kunle Omisore, and Tayo Sobola as the main cast members. In Nigeria, she has appeared in well over a hundred movies (both in the English and Yoruba aspect of Nollywood)

Personal life


D’Marion and Ayden are Adunni’s two sons. She admitted that, after making the painful decision to end her relationship with their father, she planned to raise them as a single mother.
