Nigerian-born British actor, Damson Alade-Bo Idris has cautioned black men against trying to humble black women by being disrespectful.
According to Idris, he observed that there is a widespread, unjustified animosity directed at black women, particularly from mature black men; specifically toward emerging female talents who are simply pursuing their goals.
While noting that what some black men are doing stems from a misguided belief that it enhances one’s masculinity, Idris said it does not define true manhood.
The ‘Snowfall’ 32-year-old actor asked that black men grow up in the coming year.
On his Instagram page, he wrote,
“The compulsion to humble these women perhaps makes you feel like more of a man. I promise you, you aren’t men to us.
“A new year is approaching. Grow up.”
