The GTB fashion weekend runway is filled with incredibly artistic pieces by the prestigious designers from Africa, Europe and The States, that includes from Ituen Basi and Lanre Da Silva to David Tlale, Adama Paris and LaQuan Smith. These were just a few of the designers showcasing and you can imagine what would happen in Lagos, a city, obsessed with fashion. There’s literally a fashion store or two on almost every corner of Lagos. With the attendance being free, the crowd was enormous.
This event wasn’t just about the catwalks, though, that exude glitz and glamour, Oniru Estate had fashionistas hopping out of keke and cars and prancing into the venue with clothes designed by them, perhaps styled by them or wearing clothes to support their designer friends. I saw a lot in just two weekend and I wish I could have captured them all but honestly it was manic. Someone even showed up wearing a gown made of newspapers and no stitches just taped together.
