Afrobeat singer Davido has erroneously claimed that Nigeria has only three tribes, namely Yoruba, Igbo and Benin.

Davido, who made a mistake while entertaining prominent American content producer Kai Cenat, who is in Nigeria shooting a documentary, claimed Wednesday in Lagos, “We have three tribes in Nigeria.” There is Yoruba. My father is Yoruba. And you are truly Nigerian if your father is from there. So, my father is Yoruba. My wife is from Igbo. My mother is from Benin. “I am three tribes in one.”
Contrary to the Timeless singer’s claim, the National Bureau of Statistics showed that Nigeria has 371 tribes, the majority of which are Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba.
