Planning a fashion show is definitely not Yeezy and Kanye West’s upcoming Yeezy show is already causing chaos for fashion week
Kanye West once again scheduled a fashion show for his upcoming Yeezy line during New York Fashion Week — without consulting those in charge of the events, Women’s Wear Daily reports.
“Once again, CFDA (Council Of Fashion Designers Of America) was not approached or consulted about the possibility of Kanye West showing on the official New York Fashion Week schedule,” President and CEO Steven Kolb said in a statement to Women’s Wear Daily.
“Not going through the proper channels is disruptive to the whole week and unfair to designers who have secured spots through the formal procedure,” he continued.
West’s show conflicted with designer Marchesa on Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. and due to the overlap, CFDA noted it would not list the Yeezy Season 5 show.
However, upon learning of the issue, Ye decided to adjust his schedule and set his show for the same date at 2 p.m.
Kanye West didn’t consult fashion week organizers for his upcoming Yeezy Season 5 show.
“Kanye called me personally to let me know that he had no intention of showing on top of another designer, and was unaware that there was a conflict,” Kolb said in a statement to WWD.
Marchesa has dressed West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye has sat front-row for the designer.
The messy planning isn’t a first for the “Famous” rapper.
Kanye ran into similar issues in 2015, when he announced his Yeezy Season show at the last minute and caused scheduling conflicts.
West’s most recent show in September 2016 was plagued by setbacks including delays of nearly two hours.
Kanye West’s YEEZY Season 5 fashion show is scheduled for February 15th at 5 PM EST. The location of the show is Pier 59, a much more accessible location than last year’s arduous trek to Roosevelt Island. While the focus is always on his apparel, the YEEZY Season fashion shows always deliver when it comes to revealing new adidas Yeezy Boost footwear. Will we see the Yeezy Boost 750 v2 during the show, or perhaps new colorways of the Yeezy Boost 350 v2.
