On Tuesday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first red-carpet appearance together in five months at the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards in New York, glamsquad reports

The pair was joined at the occasion by Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City. Meghan, who was honoured at the award event, was supported by both Harry and Ragland.

Meghan remarked on how the organisation continues to inspire her while accepting the award, which was presented to her by Ms. Foundation co-founder and feminist icon Gloria Steinem, according to the Associated Press.

“It allowed me to recognise that part of my greater value and purpose in life was to advocate for those who felt unheard, to stand up to injustice, and to not be afraid of saying what is true, just, and right,” Meghan explained.

“It’s never too late to start,” Meghan emphasised. “You have the ability to be the visionary of your own life… There’s still a lot of work to be done.”

The Duchess of Sussex wore a strapless gold Johanna Ortiz midi dress with metallic jacquard fabric to the event. The elegant gown has a bustier bodice and a diamond-shaped cutout. Ortiz re-posted photos of Meghan wearing the dress on Instagram, stating that it is from her FW Libertad line.

It is currently out of stock at Saks Fifth Avenue, but it was previously priced at $1,850.

Meanwhile, Harry arrived in a navy-blue suit with a white shirt and a light-blue patterned tie.

Given that Meghan did not attend King Charles’ coronation on May 6, this was the first time the couple was pictured together at a prominent event since the Ripple of Hope Awards in December 2022.

The Duchess of Sussex accepted her Women of Vision award alongside LaTosha Brown, co-founder of the Black Voters Matter movement, who emphasised the need for more action in her acceptance speech.

“Even pain has a purpose,” Brown explained to the crowd. “What’s going on in our country right now isn’t simply about what the Republicans or Democrats are going to do. It truly is a question of what we will do collectively to lean into this moment of discomfort and recognise it as an opportunity to get it right because we haven’t gotten it right.”

Johanna Ortiz’s and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s representatives did not immediately answer to Insider’s request for comment.
