Singer Ashanti to shed light on s£xual harassment in the music industry

After bravely sharing her story earlier this month, American singer Ashanti hopes to shed more light on the sexual harassment she claims occurs in the American music industry, glamsquad reports.

On Tuesday, December 27, the 42-year-old hitmaker – full name Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas – opened up to People magazine about the challenges she has faced over the course of her two-decade career.

 

‘Honestly, I’m not sure if another artist would be able to deal with what I’ve dealt with,’ she said.

 


Ashanti revealed that a close-knit male music producer initially offered her two songs for free before withdrawing the offer and giving her the choice of showering with him or paying $40,000 for each song.

‘I honestly thought he was joking,’ she said. You can have the impression that someone is cool, but they have an ulterior motive.

 

‘If it can happen to Ashanti, it can happen to anyone, and I’ve heard worse stories.’

 

During an appearance on The Breakfast Club earlier this month, Ashanti made a startling claim about a producer attempting to ransom her songs in exchange for s*x.
